LPN position in Lawrence, KS

Center for Change - Lawrence is a substance abuse treatment center, new to the Lawrence area, providing medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence. We have an immediate opening for one part-time or PRN nurse. Position Title: Nurse/Dosing Nurse Position Summary: This position is responsible for the efficient and effective daily operations of the pharmacy, including accurately dispensing prescribed medications, security and inventory accuracy of controlled substances. Assist the medical provider in all areas of patient care, including physicals and necessary tests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Receive CII from appropriate source and conduct inventory of controlled substances as required by P&P. Reconcile variances. Report any and all variances as required by state and federal regulations. Dispense medication while ensuring accuracy of patient's dose. Maintain high level of security in pharmacy at all times including security of medication at dosing window. Actively involved in diversion control through patient observation, monitoring and conducting inspections associated with random bottle recalls. Evaluates potential patient safety issues in regards to dosing through assessment of patients who present with signs and symptoms of acute intoxication. Reports results of assessment to primary counselor and the medical provider when a patient is believed to be inappropriate for dosing. Answer patient's questions relating to pharmacology issues in a confidential, informative manner. Provide health education where appropriate. Process or review medical orders, changes, and flags for each patient and enter patient data. Assure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding treatment. Maintain proper inventory and supplies for pharmacy and laboratory operations to adequately and professionally meet patient's needs. Complete physical examinations, including blood work, procures lab specimens and records the results of the tests. Participate in staffing for the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment improvement of patients. Keep pharmacy dispensing equipment clean and functioning including calibrating pumps on a daily basis. Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy and laboratory. Requirements: An unrestricted licensed nurse (RN or LPN) registered in the state of Kansas and graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Experience in the field of addictions is preferred but not necessary. Must achieve proficiency with clinic software. Dependability/reliability is essential. Typical shifts will be approximately 5:00am to 1:00pm M-F, with Saturday shifts which are 6:00am to 9:30am.
